15# IDa4 MURAL IN EUROPE: Astor Victoria Hostel - London - UK

As we travel around Europe and go to theses new and amazing places and meet theses new and amazing people, there is the old adage of "theirs on place like home".   Well, when back in the UK for Christmas and New Year, we found our self's a London hostel to paint in the heart of the capital, before we left for mainland Europe.

The Astor hostel group is one of the biggest in London, its a family run business with 4 hostels around London with over 40 years of experience.

We got asked to paint the biggest of  the 4 hostels which was is the Victoria. Its very close to the river Thames and is in a huge old Victorian building.

The hostel itself has great staff from all over the world and the reception is always busy, it has a big basement kitchen, chillout reception area and a cinema room too.

ART

We were asked to paint the cinema room with iconic images of the screen and give a generally better feeling to the room,

The room at first glance felt a bit empty with its high walls and blank walls. But that's why we were are here!

We had a brief from Alex (the owner) to cut out the following people on a scale of 1m x 1m:
  • James Dean

  • Marylin Monroe

  • Scar Face - Tony Montana

  • Charlie Chaplin

  • Pulp Fiction

  • Sound of Music

We set about to our work and this was the results...
